Leanda Cave

Leanda was born in Louth, Lincolnshire. She went to school in Queensland, Australia and progressed as an athlete and elected to represent Wales in triathlon by virtue of her mother being Welsh. She now lives and trains in the USA.

Leanda has mastered triathlon across all distances during her lengthy career. She won the ITU world title in Cancun in 2002, the ITU Long Distance world title in Lorient in 2007 and in 2012 she won the Ironman 70.3 and the Ironman world titles. Her win in Kona, Hawaii was the most memorable and visible to a global audience – she the first woman to win the ‘double’ in the same year.

She represented Wales and won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. She also won silver at the European Championships in the same year.

Still competing at the highest level, there may still be even more successes yet to come and Leanda continues to inspire thousands of triathletes to pursue their dreams in a professional manner.
