Silver for Stimpson20th June 2009
Jodie Stimpson has won a silver medal at the ETU Youth and U23 European Championships, which have taken place this Saturday 20 June in Torze, Italy. Jodie has been in impressive form of late, with three podium positions in each of the British Triathlon Super Series races held so far – winning the Mazda Blenheim Triathlon and Nokia Windsor Triathlon. From victory at Windsor, she can now add a silver medal to her collection following a strong display in Italy. Swimming well, she was well positioned going into the bike leg. With a consistent leg she maintained her position and headed into the run positioned in the lead group. As the race progressed Stimpson took the initiate and used her running ability to move away from the group. However, on the second lap in the race she was eventually caught by winner Supanova from the Ukraine, who stretched out a 30 second lead the British athlete. Despite coming second, with such impressive results, Stimpson will be full of confidence for the rest of the season. |
