British Age Group duathletes looking to qualify for next years Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships will have four chances to do so when the season gets underway. With extra qualification slots available to the host nation, British Triathlon hopes to send one of its largest ever teams to a World Championships which will hopefully make it one of the most successful as well. The first qualifier of the season will be held at the British Duathlon Championships in Clumber Park on the 6th March. The other three opportunities will be at Stirling University on the 28th March, Emberton Park, Milton Keynes on the 11th April and Cambridge on the 2nd May. Tom Chambers, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 2010 Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships, said: “Event Scotland, the City of Edinburgh Council and triathlonscotland are all working with British Triathlon to ensure that this will be the best World Duathlon Championships and look forward to welcoming as many Age Group qualifiers as possible to the city on the 4th / 5th September 2010.” Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh, said: “In September next year we’ll be welcoming a host of talented athletes and thousands of keen spectators from all over the world to our great city for the 2010 ITU Duathlon World Championships.
