Triathlon England North West - Referee Courses May 2010

Triathlon England North West are pleased to announce two Level one Referee courses taking place in May. The importance of the referee cannot be underestimated and without them we simply won’t have a fair and even sport. By becoming a referee you will be putting something back into Triathlon but we stress you won’t be called upon every week, the more referee’s we have in place the less you will be required. We hope that every club in the region will consider nominating at least one referee.

The first of the courses will take place at Warrington Sports Club on Tuesday 4th May starting at 7pm, refreshments will be provided. This will be tutored by Sue Taylor. Sue is a very experienced referee who got involved in refereeing after watching her husband Paul taking part in events and decided that rather than just standing around she’d like to assist. Sue is the North West Referee Co-ordinator and sits on the British Triathlon Rules and Technical Committee.

The second course will take place at South Ribble Tennis Centre on Saturday 15th May from 2pm. Tutoring this course will be Dave Rigby. Like Sue, Dave is a highly experienced referee and has been involved in everything from small Aquathlon’s to major international events like Salford. Dave also sits on the North West Committee and is Board Member for Triathlon England.

The level one course is a home study pack but providing you with these events it’s a chance to complete it with others and a chance to ask questions of Dave and Sue.
