British Triathlon Federation & Triathlon England Consultation

British Triathlon is inviting members to review and provide feedback on the working draft governance papers for the proposed new organisations of British Triathlon Federation and Triathlon England.  They will also be holding a series of road show meetings around England to inform and consult current British Triathlon members on the proposals.

Three draft governance documents are now available to view on the British Triathlon website:

  1. Memorandum of Association.
  2. Articles of Association.
  3. Regulations – Triathlon England.

The creation of a National Governing Body for England and the formation of a new Federation comprising of Triathlon England, triathlonscotland, and the Welsh Triathlon Association are key aims of the sport’s agreed Vision for Triathlon, which was created as part of the one stop planning process.  The Vision Document and other related papers explaining the modernisation agenda can be found on the British Triathlon web page titled “Modernising British Triathlon”.

At the Annual General Meeting held last November, the Executive Board of British Triathlon was mandated to bring forward proposals for the formation of the British Triathlon Federation and Triathlon England to an Extra-Ordinary Meeting of the British Triathlon Association to be held on the 29th April 2006.  This meeting will consider dissolution of the British Triathlon Association and the establishment of the British Triathlon Federation, which will include a division called Triathlon England, which will become the National Governing Body of Triathlon in England.

Members are invited to review the governance papers as published on the website today and to submit their comments on these documents in writing by e-mail to information@britishtriathlon.org placing the title Governance Documents Consultation Feedback in the e-mail heading.   Alternatively, feedback can be submitted by post to Norman Brook, Chief Executive Officer, British Triathlon, PO Box 25, Loughborough, LE11 3WX.  E-mail and written feedback must be received by Monday, 6 March 2006, in order that it can be considered by the working party.

To help British Triathlon members based in England understand the proposed changes, and to enable them to provide feedback on the proposed new structures of the British Triathlon Federation and Triathlon England, a series of meetings will be conducted across England.
