Wins for Bridge and Leckie at BUSA Championships

Carol Bridge and Todd Leckie stormed to victory at the weekend's British University Triathlon Championships in Calne, Wiltshire.

Set over the sprint distance, and with a pool based swim, the event attracted large numbers of competitors from all abilities.

Loughborough's Carol Bridge rode through the leaders in the women's race with an impressive display of power and composure. She pulled out a healthy lead of Jess Towl from Nottingham Trent University whilst Bridge's team-mate, Heather Jackson, took bronze.

James Third from Cambridge University put time into everyone on the bike in the men's race, but he was chased down by Todd Leckie from the University of Brighton on the run. Mark Threlfall from Loughborough University started in a seperate wave, but managed to clock the second fastest time to take silver behind Leckie with Third taking the bronze.

Loughborough's combination of Bridge, Jackson, Threlfall and Mark Bruce took team gold ahead of Bath and Leeds Metropolitan.

The inaugural BUSA Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships will take place on 13 July at Wetherby in Yorkshire.
