McNamee and McWilliam win Mazda British Sprint Triathlon titles on Home Turf in Strathclyde Park

Young up and coming triathletes David McNamee and Kirsty McWilliam crossed the line in first position at last weekend's Mazda British Sprint Triathlon Championships at Strathclyde Park near Glasgow.

McNamee dominated the 750m loch swim, exiting the water a full minute ahead of his nearest rivals before putting together an impressive bike-run performance to finish two minutes ahead of Alan Copland from One Life Racing.

Junior World Champion, Kirsty McWilliam, decided to compete in the Age Group championship rather than the Junior race, and immediately put many of the male athletes under pressure with a swift 11:33min swim placing her in seventh overall after the first discipline.

Come the finish line she had pulled out a comfortable margin of victory ahead of Alison Rowatt from Edinburgh Triathletes and Anne Ewing from Edinburgh University Triathlon Club.
