Great Britain’s top age-group triathletes recognised at Awards Evening

Georgina Jennings (W70-74) and Edward Castro (M25-29) have been recognised for their winning age-group performances at this year’s British Triathlon Awards Evening on 14 November 2015.

In an evening aimed at celebrating the performances of the Great Britain and Home Nation teams whilst looking towards Olympic and Paralympic year, the pair were picked out from a Great Britain Age-Group Team who together collected a phenomenal 285 medals at 18 ITU World and ETU European Championships across the 2015 season, 91 of which were gold.

British Triathlon Female Age-Group Triathlete of the Year, Georgina Jennings has been a regular member of the Great Britain Age-Group team and tallied some impressive results over the past few years.  She twice competed for the team this season, picking up gold at the ETU Sprint Distance Triathlon European Championships in Geneva and silver at the ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships in Chicago.

British Triathlon Male Age-Group Triathlete of the Year, Ed Castro is an athlete who, despite only early into his career, is a true all-rounder. A stellar performance saw him pick up age-group sprint gold in Geneva at the ETU Triathlon European Championships, before going on to win ITU Triathlon World Championship silver and bronze in Chicago respectively in the standard and sprint distance races.

The annual event took place at Chessington World of Adventures resort on Saturday 14 November. The 2016 season has a range of opportunities to qualify for the Great Britain Age-Group Team. Visit here to find them and you too could be collecting a British Triathlon Award next year.
