Chloe Cook eighth at U23 Worlds

Published:

Chloe Cook finished eighth in the U23 World Championships in Chicago. The race was shortened due to bad weather, with a deep water start instead of a pontoon dive. Elisabeth Hood finished 27th in the junior event.

Bad weather saw the schedule shortened to accommodate all of Friday's elite races before another storm hit Chicago in the evening. Cook showed maturity to get the job done, starting with a great swim which put her into contention right from the start.

French pair, Audrey Merle and Leonie Periault showed that they were the strongest runners, sprinting for the finishing line and Merle coming out on top. A top ten finish was a great result for Cook, who took a break from triathlon before returning and achieving some impressive results this season.

Laura Lindemann of Germany was a class above the rest in the junior event and retained the title that she won in Edmonton last year. Elisabeth Hood was 27th.
