Triathlon England SW launches leaders courses

Triathlon England SW is very pleases to announce the next run of leaders courses and coaches CPD

Run Leaders

This course is delivered by Run England on behalf of Triathlon England to allow volunteers to lead group running activities in a club environment. The course covers the basics of leading a running activity session including warm up and cool down activities.

This is not a coaching qualification and is aimed at club volunteers with experience of running activities but is not suitable for existing coaches as the syllabus is very basic. 

The Leadership in Running Fitness course will enable you to deliver fun and safe sessions to multi-ability groups and give advice and support to the new runner, as well as developing pathways for those who want to progress.  It focuses on understanding and overcoming barriers to participation in running.  Further details on this course can be found on the Run England website here.

Upon completion of the course candidates will be required to complete a DBS application and submit a membership application Run England for insurance purposes. The cost of this is included in the cost of the course.

Cost £110.

The course will be delivered on Sunday the 25th of March 2015 in Calne, Wiltshire.

Club Ride leaders

 

The Club Ride Leaders course is a one day course for those within clubs that are leading rides.

Aims of this course

The overarching objective for the course is to:

  • Inspire participants to want to be Club Ride Leaders and to equip them with the skills and knowledge required.
  • Give them the opportunity to practise techniques in a 'safe' environment supported by peers and professional tutors.

To enable the Club Ride Leader to:

  • Fulfil the aims and objectives of club riders so that they have a great time and keep coming back
  • Increase participation in the club rides.

Course Outcomes:

 

  • Understand the process of planning rides
  • Be able to verify equipment is safe and appropriate for use
  • Be able to assess participants' skill, fitness and experience
  • Be able to explain the ride
  • Understand group management techniques for club rides
  • Be able to deliver inclusive group rides
  • Establish and maintain a safe environment and demonstrate safe riding in a group.

The cost of the course is £110 and you must be a Home Nations Member i.e. Triathlon England

Swim Smooth Beginner to Freestyle Coach Workshop – Wellington Somerset 31/1/2014

Open to Level 1, 2 and 3 triathlon qualified coaches. The course will cover the teaching methods of the freestyle stroke for complete beginners. Course delivery will be by Swim Smooth tutors. Coaches must have a good understanding of freestyle swimming and experience of coaching swimmers who can already swim freestyle. This interactive course is 3 hours and has two slots available on the day of 9am or 1pm.  There are 12 places available.  The cost of this course is  £55 however it is open to club coaches for free if they contact me directly first.  davidhooper@triathlonengland.org
