Hall and Buckingham feature at Cozumel World Cup

Published:

Great Britain is represented by six athletes, including Lucy Hall and Mark Buckingham at the Cozumel ITU World Cup in Mexico this weekend. The line up includes Olympic Champion, Nicola Spirig (SUI), who returns to the ITU circuit having had a baby, and World Champion, Javier Gomez.

Hall starts as the highest ranked British female athlete over the sprint distance course in Cozumel. Having achieved a top ten finish in Alicante last weekend, she’ll hope to form another bike breakaway along with fellow super-swimmer, Natalie Milne, and Brazil’s Pamela Oliveira.

Florie McLeish is Britain’s other woman in the line up of 46 athetes taking on the flat sprint-distance course.

In the men’s race Javier Gomez will start as number one having won the ITU world title last month in London. Mark Buckingham will look for another solid result having finished in Alicante’s top ten and having won the World Cup event in Palamos in xxx.

Scottish athletes Ritchie Nicholls and Graham Leitch complete the GB line up.

The women are first to start at 10.15am (local time), followed by the men at 12pm. Cuzumel is six hours behind the UK. Live commentary will be available via triathlon.org/live and on twitter at triathlonlive.
