Event Organisers Course, 28th and 29th March 2015, Cardiff

Welsh Triathlon is excited to announce its first ever Event Organisers Course which will be held Saturday 28 March 2015 and Sunday 29 March 2015. The course will be held in Sport Wales, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, CF11 9SW

The cost will be £95 for Welsh Triathlon members and £160 for non members. You will need to attend both days to complete the course.

Course Overview

The course is based on the Event Organisers Course developed by Triathlon England and will be facilitated by trained and experienced tutors in both triathlon and event delivery.

Its purpose is to provide current and new event organisers with the skills and knowledge required to deliver safe, memorable and successful events.

The following modules are covered during the course:

·         Event Management Cycle: describing and applying the stages of event delivery, including what constitutes safe and successful events.

·         Project Scoping: project scoping and its benefits, an outline scope will be developed to be used in later modules.

·         Building the Delivery Team: roles and responsibilities of the event delivery team for both small and large scale events.

·         Engaging Stakeholders and Partners: roles of stakeholders and partners along with the development of sponsorship packages.

·         Detailed Planning: delivery of project plans, including risk assessments and Emergency Action Plans

·         Course Design: principles of good course design along with understanding the change in requirements needed for youth and paratriathlon events

·         Financial Planning: development of an event finance plan by identifying various costs which may be incurred.  Also considers event entry fees.

·         Marketing and Communication: highlights the importance of marketing and potential methods along with the outcomes and an understanding of when additional support may be required.

·         Event Evaluation and Impact: looks at identifying the successful and unsuccessful elements of an event to contribute to the event’s continued success.  Also includes analysing feedback and determining resulting actions.

The course provides an opportunity to enhance your skills as an event organiser, while providing you with the opportunity to network with a variety of other event organisers from Wales.

Delegates will be given a certificate of attendance, along with an electronic copy of the resources used, at the end of the course.
