Frost wins, Pallant & Bishop end their seasons in South America

Published:

Chris Frost celebrated gold medal winning success in Brazil at the Manaus ITU World Paratriathlon event on Saturday. Emma Pallant and Tom Bishop ended their 2014 seasons on Sunday in South America at the Cartagena ITU World Cup.

Competing in the PT4 category, one of the Rio 2016 Paratriathlon medal categories, Frost won gold by two and a half minutes over Marcelo Collet of Brazil. The Brazilian had a phenomenal swim, gaining a four-minute advantage over the next fastest athlete.

However, Frost, who competes with a prostetic left forearm on the bike, began to claw him back on the bike before chasing him down and passing him over the 5km run.

In Cartegena, Colombia Olympic Champion Nicola Spirig (SUI) was dominant again, backing up her Cozumel ITU World Cup victory from last weekend with another win. Paula Findlay was second, continuing her come back from long-term injury and illness. Emma Pallant was 31st.

The men’s race was won by Frenchman Pierre Le Corre followed by Sven Riederer (SUI) and U23 world champion, Dorian Coninx (FRA). Tom Bishop had another solid performance in 16th place.
