Georgia Taylor-Brown wins silver in Hyde Park

Georgia Taylor-Brown has won silver in the ITU Triathlon Junior World Championships as part of the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final London today.

Georgia established herself in a front group of athlets on the bike and was responsbile for keeping the pace high on the bike.

She left T2 just behind the leaders after fumbling with cold hands to get her running shoes on. At the end of the first lap of the run she was 20 seconds behind Jaz Hedgeland (AUS). However, she thrilled the home crowd with a final burst, moving up from sixth spot at the end of lap two to second with a sprint in the final 800 metres.

“I got out of transition pretty much last. I couldn’t get in my shoes I was so cold,” Taylor-Brown said. “From there I relaxed and got into the run. I think I relaxed a bit too much and left it to the last 800 and had to sprint from there."

She added: "It’s great to be able to race on the Olympic course. It’s such a good course, I think it’s my favourite one. I’ve never raced here before and the roads are so wide it’s so open and it’s really nice to race on."
