The Great Britain Age-Group Team celebrated a golden start to the season as Debbie Trafford (25-29) and Kelley Hanvier (35-39) won gold at the 2013 Cogne ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships, which took place in Italy last weekend.
Sarah Thomas(35-39) was Great Britain’s third and final medallist adding a world silver medal to her European silver won back in 2012.
Team Manager, Keith Snell was delighted with the medal tally commenting: “Once again the Great Britain Winter Triathlon Team had great success, especially in the female categories. Debbie Trafford and Keller Haniver gained gold medals with Sarah Thomas a very respectable silver in this Scandinavian and Southern Europe dominated event. The men battled hard but were out skied by their local counterparts. GB Winter Triathlon continues to be a reckonable force!
Winter triathlon is an exciting form of multisport that involved a 6km run, 12km mountain bike, and 9km cross-country ski, although the nature of winter triathlon means final distances are always set on the day after taking account of the snow conditions.
