Ladies take on GoTri at UEA

The University hosted a ladies only GoTri event with a run bike run on 26 June

University of East Anglia (UEA) Sports Park, Norwich, Norfolk organised a women’s only GO TRI event on June 26th in conjunction with #thisgirlcan campaign.

Women were given the task of running up to 2k on the track, then they jumped onto static spin bikes for 5k, then another 2k run.  Bikes were in room next to track so transition was quick. Participants didn’t have to sign up on the day, they simply turned up either at 6pm or 7pm to enter the event.

Over the two sessions 40 women in total took part  in the event.  Izzy Rothon, Community Sports Officer, said “All the women really enjoyed it and lots of them loved the fact it was a static bike as they were nervous on the road on a bike, so this gave them an opportunity to do a Duathlon but not actually have to go out on the road or even get on a normal bike.  We are looking forward to organising out next event”

Tom Levy a BTF Triathlon coach who will now be working with the women to improve their skills and increase their confidence in order for them to sign up for another GO TRI event or a Sprint distance triathlon for the more confident. Many thanks to Izzy Rothon, Tom Levy and the UEA sports park for organising and hosting the event.
