After the age-group racing it was the turn of the junior women to take to the pontoon.  Sophie Coldwell was third out the water and stayed with the lead group on the bike. Sadly, Sophie faded slightly on the run to finish in sixth place with a time of 01:04.54.

The next Brit was Sarah Hodgson who did a fast run split to claim 11th place in 01:06.07, with Sian Rainsley (01:07.35) in 28th and Kate Curran (01:07.56) in 30th place overall.

Next up was the elite women’s race with Lois Rosindale and Holly Lawrence flying the flag for Great Britain in a tough field that included Nicola Spirig (SUI) and reigning European Champion, Rachel Klamer (NED).

Lois delivered a blistering run to finish fifth in a time of 02:11.35; Holly was 11th, finishing in a time of 02:12.03. Nicola Spirig took the European title finishing in 02:10.24.

Tomorrow will see Great Britain’s paratriathletes in action alongside the junior and senior elite men. The Great Britain Age-Group Team will next be in action on Sunday in the standard distance races.
Inspired by the team’s exploits in Kitzbuhel, aspirant members of the Great Britain Age-Group Team will also be in action at the Dambuster Triathlon.

The event, which is also the Triathlon England – National Triathlon Championships is the final chance for age-groupers to qualify for the standard distance races at this year’s ITU World Championships and the first opportunity to qualify for the team at the 2015 ETU European Championships. Good luck to everyone competing.
