Fast & furious racing lies ahead for juniors

11 of Britain's top Junior talent head to Austria this weekend, 18-19 June, for more exciting ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup action.

What: Kitzbuhel ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup

When: This exciting event will see athletes compete in a super sprint qualifier on Saturday 18, with the top 30 men and women progressing to the final on Sunday 19.

Where: Kitzbuhel, Austria, is one of Austria’s most well-known winter sports resorts, but come summer it is a hive of triathlon action. From 2009 to 2013 the town hosted legs of the ITU World Triathlon Series, showing that the city knows how to put on a top class elite race.

This event sees the return of the exciting qualifier/final format, popular amongst junior athletes. Saturday 18 sees athletes take on a time trial format 500m swim, 13.3km cycle and 3km run. The fastest 30 men and women will then progress to a mass start final on Sunday 19, racing over a fast and furious 250m swim, 7.6km cycle and 2km run.

Who: A large British contingent head over to Austria, made up of 8 Junior Men and 3 Junior Women. Heading the men’s field is Leicestershire’s Ben Dijkstra, who is joined by in form Sam Dickinson and Jack Willis. Also representing the men are Cameron Harris, Lewis Byram, Will Crudgington, Archie Molesworth St Aubyn and Jack Callis. Bronwen Owen is the top ranked British Woman and is joined by Elisabeth Hood and Julie Nimmo.
