Lancashire School Games Duathlon

Published:

After the recent successful Chorley Schools Duathlon it was Pendle's turn to host the schools event.

After the recent success of the Chorley School Games Duathlon in Astley Park, it was Pendle's turn to host the School Games Duathlon for East Lanashire.

Over 40 boys and girls took part in the event run at the fantastic Steven Burke Sports Hub. The gruelling duathlon, saw a long run around the cricket pitches before some tough laps on the cycle circuit, topped off by another punishing run around the cricket field before heading to the finish.

First up for the afternoon were the primary schools quickly followed by the secondary schools. The event featured both single and relay events and all were contested in great spirit. A highlight of the day saw members of both primary schools, Laneshaw Bridge and Wheatley Lane, helping and cheering in some of the last competitors. With even a member of Laneshaw Bridge slowing down to help a Wheatley competitor.

The event was superbly run by Pendle School Sports Partnership with help form Pendle Triathlon Club.

The winners of the event will be picked for their regon to compete at the Lancashire School Games in Stanley Park on July 5th.
