Learmonth and Hall impress in Quarteria

Published:

Jess Learmonth and Lucy Hall had a dream start to the season with gold and silver at the Quarteira ETU Triathlon European Cup in Portugal. Zoe Thomas also achieved a top ten finish and there were junior medals for Kate Waugh, Sam Dickinson and Alex Yee.

Learmonth and Hall lead out of the 1500m sea swim and rode the 40km hilly technical bike course together, completing it three minutes faster than any of the other competitors.

With a clear lead at the start of the 10km run, Learmonth was the faster of the pair. She claimed gold with Hall well ahead of the third place finisher to earn an excellent silver medal.
