10 minutes with...Lucy Hall

Published:

Famed for her blistering swim speed and being a regular on the international triathlon circuit, we talk Homeland and George Ezra with GB's Lucy Hall...

How did you get involved in triathlon?
I was eight years old, watching my dad competing in a triathlon in Wales. There was a kids triathlon happening at the event so decided to give it a go and loved it ever since!

What don’t we know about you?
I've developed a fear of flying over the last few years. However, I am addressing it and trying to overcome my fear!

What advice do you wish you’d been given before you started out in the sport?
Make sure you buy a decent pair of cycle shorts.

What tip would you give a beginner to triathlon?
Try and practice transitions at some point in training. A lot of time can be easily lost/ gained here.

Do you have a sporting family?
My dad has always been a swim coach and currently coaches at both a military college and Warwick University. Well all my family member are very active -  my mum and dad took up cycling after the 2012 Olympic Games. My brother also competes in triathlons and trains at Loughborough University.

What do you do to chill out in your spare time?
Fridays is always my easier training day, so I tend to get all the house chores done.
Between sessions I’ll usually be reading or watching reality TV!

Who is your sporting hero?
Jo Pavey (British distance runner) has always been someone I look up to - I think her race tactics are always gutsy. She always gives everything she’s got.

Greatest sporting moment in history?
For me, Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France.
