Gomez and True win at ITU World Triathlon Stockholm

Published:

India Lee made her ITU World Triathlon Series debut in Stockholm this weekend. She and Matt Sharp were the only British athletes racing in the Swedish capital as Javier Gomez and Sarah True won the men and women’s races respectively.

With a new course covering the Olympic distance in Stockholm and featuring a split transition, athletes were challenged over the technical course. India Lee finished 26th in her first ever Series race and Matt Sharp finished 36th.

Javier Gomez (ESP) dominated the men’s race and Sarah True (USA) won the women’s race for the second year in a row. Olympic Champion, Nicola Spirig (SUI) finished 5th.

A larger British field is expected to take part in the penultimate round of the Series in Edmonton 5-6 September. That is followed by the ITU Grand Final in Chicago 18-19 September.
