British Triathlon Super Series is back for 2015

Published:

The British Triathlon Super Series returns in 2015 with three of the world's most prestigious triathlons ready to host domestic racing at its best.

The Super Series, won in 2014 by Mark Buckingham and Emma Pallant, will kick-off with the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon, before moving onto Tri Liverpool and finishing in the heart of the capital at the London Triathlon.

The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon, which takes place on 13th & 14th June and is organised by IMG Challenger World, continues to position itself as the season opener, attracting over  7,000 competitors, as well as a high calibre of elite triathletes. Last year saw 160 elites on the start line with Matt Sharp and Emma Pallant taking the victory, this year’s event, is set to be equally popular.

Following Blenheim the Super Series heads to Tri Liverpool, which takes place on 26 July and is organised by British Triathlon in partnership with Liverpool City Council. Last year’s event welcomed a world-class field to the Albert Docks including world champion and 2014 winner, Gwen Jorgensen and this year’s event looks set to deliver elites of equal calibre. Alongside the elite races, the event will also host the British Age-Group Triathlon Championships as well as sprint, standard and beginner waves. Entry is available on www.triliverpool.com.

The finale of the Super Series will see elite triathletes head to the London Triathlon, taking place on the weekend of 8th/9th August. The London Triathlon was won by overall Super Series winners Mark Buckingham and Emma Pallant in 2014 and is the world's largest, with more than 13,000 athletes taking part.

In addition and new to 2015 the London Triathlon will also host the 2015 British Elite Standard Distance Triathlon Championships ensuring a high calibre elite field of competitors.

Jon Ridgeon, British Triathlon’s Director for Major and National Events, said: "We are delighted to announce the 2015 British Triathlon Super Series and our British Elite Standard Distance Triathlon Championships. This year we have three events, which all provide an enviable world-class racing environment paired with iconic locations. The elite races will also provide an appetising opportunity for spectators to watch the best domestic action whilst also cheering on friends and family in the mass participation races.”

James Robinson, Managing Director of IMG Challenger World, commented: “We’re thrilled to be hosting the British Triathlon Super Series once again at both the London Triathlon and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon. The elite fields were strong for both events last year, with closely fought races cheered on by thousands of spectators. Now with the addition of the British Elite Standard Distance Triathlon Championships, at the Super Series finale at the London Triathlon, I’m sure we’ll get to witness another impressive display of Elite Triathletes in 2015.”
