Triathlon Trust holding Tim Peake's 'Space to Earth' challenge at the Triathlon Show London

Published:

This weekend the Triathlon Trust, official charity of British Triathlon, will be giving young people and families a chance to complete an 'out of this world' challenge at the Triathlon Show London in the Excel arena.

In partnership with the UK and European Space Agency, the Trust are holding a Space to Earth challenge set by Tim Peake himself.

Whilst in space, Tim has to exercise for two hours a day to maintain his fitness levels and combat the effect of living in a weightless environment, so has asked young people of Britain to exercise along with him. He has set the challenge of covering the 400km distance from Earth to the International Space Station and this weekend (12-14 February) Triathlon Show attendees are being invited to take it on themselves using equiptment set up within the arena. The total distance covered over the weekend will be recorded and the team will be reporting back to Tim over the weekend with the progress made.

Every participant will get a certificate with their personal distance contributed to the total and also an opportunity for a selfie with an ultrarealistic Tim Peake standee in the 'space studio'.

Tim has recorded this latest message from the space station to set the challenge.
