Youth triathletes prepare for European Championships

Published:

The Great Britain teams for the Holten ETU Triathlon Youth European Championships have been confirmed. With a particularly strong group of Youth athletes, two male and two female relay teams are set to race.

Great Britain will also have the luxury of taking reserve athletes to the Holten, Netherlands, in order to gain experience and the final squads will be selected next Wednesday, the day before the races take place.

The Youth relays feature three athletes per team aged 15 to 17 (in the year of competition). Great Britain has a strong track record in the event, with many of our current senior squad having gained their first international success as part of Youth Relay teams.

Sixteen year old Sian Rainsley from Coventry will add valuable experience to the women’s team having just returned from the ETU Triathlon European Championships with a gold medal from the Junior Mixed Relay.

The European U23 Championships also feature in Holten with Lucy Hall, Lois Rosindale, Tom Bishop, David Bishop, Iestyn Harrett and Beau Smith all planning to race next Saturday.
