NW Children’s Events 2010
for up to date standings in the series and results from previous years see bottom of the page
As in previous years, there will be a winter and summer series of events for children. These events are for youngsters aged 8 to 16 (age at 31/12/10) and include short course as well as full distance races so that all levels of ability are catered for.
Update: Unfortunately the Warrington Triathlon will not now go ahead as highlighted below. Since this possibility was anticipated at the outset, the criteria for both the summer series and IRC selection will not change although it has been simplified by removing all reference to the Warrington event.

3. Athletes must be Triathlon England members by 26/09/10 (Fleetwood Triathlon)
For Youths
1. Best 5 results to count.

4. Athletes must be Triathlon England members by 26/09/10 (Fleetwood Triathlon)
All categories of athletes must either reside within the NW or they must be a member of a NW club. However, it has been noted in previous years that there a number of competitors from outside the region who regularly compete in the NW series events but unfortunately, because of the above criteria, have not been eligible for any series recognition. To accommodate this, competitors can register their intention to compete in the NW series (instead of their own regions) by e-mailing the children’s series coordinator (steven.jones@btinternet.com ) on or before the first event (20/6/10 Bolton Tri)
Inter Regional Championships (IRC’s) selection criteria
Every year each triathlon region in England, Scotland and Wales send teams of T2, T3 and Youth athletes to compete in what is the equivalent of a national championship for competitors of these age groups. For T2 & T3 categories two male and two female athletes are selected whilst for the Youth age group, three males and three females are selected. The selection process is primarily an objective decision based on performances in the summer series.
To represent the region, all categories of athletes must either reside within the NW or they must be a member of a NW club and:
For T2-T3 athletes:
1. Best single result from Bolton and Manchester triathlons to count.
2. Athlete’s scores will be based on a percentage of the winner’s time.
3. Athletes must be Triathlon England members by 18/07/10
For Youths:
1. Best 3 results from Bolton, Liverpool, Blenheim, Manchester and Boundary Breeze triathlon to count.
2. At least one of these events must be an open water swim i.e. Blenheim, Liverpool or Boundary Breeze. If you only do Bolton and Manchester only the best of these two scores will count.
3. Athlete’s scores will be based on a percentage of the winner’s time.
4. To evaluate scores from Liverpool, Blenheim and Boundary Breeze triathlons the first NW competitor will be taken as the winner with other competitor’s scores based on a percentage of that time.
5. Athletes must be Triathlon England members by 18/07/10 (Boundary Breeze Triathlon)
Scoring for all races will be the same as the winter series with the exception of the emboldened races. In these races, the first NW athlete will be assumed to be the winner and all other NW competitors scores based on a percentage of that time.
