Yes, single discipline coaches operating in clubs affiliated to British Triathlon must comply with the same safeguarding standards as triathlon coaches. The standards can be found here.

Affiliated clubs receive insurance cover for all club activities, including events. The level of cover is shown below

• Public Liability = £15,000,000
• Employers’ Liability = £10,000,000
• Professional Indemnity = £10,000,000
• Directors and Officers Cover = £10,000,000

The club insurance cover does not provide any public liability or personal accident cover for individual members or coaches. Members and coaches require their own individual membership of British Triathlon in order to benefit from this insurance cover. Details of individual membership can be found on our website.

All club types receive the same level of benefits including £15m Public Liability insurance.

Members of affiliated clubs continue to get a discount on their individual membership of British Triathlon. When you have completed the affiliation process, including payment, your club will appear on the drop-down list of clubs for your members to select from when they become a member of British Triathlon.

A commercial club can put on events to members of the public so long as that is not their primary function. They must also ensure their events are permitted with British Triathlon and those taking part sign up to Race Pass if they do not hold British Triathlon Membership. Further details on organising an event can be found on the Event Organisers Website. This is continually being reviewed by British Triathlon and all clubs will be notified of any changes.

There is no current set number however if a club was putting on several events a year it might be deemed that you are a commercial organiser and you will be asked to separate the club from the events. This will be continually reviewed by British Triathlon.

If you are a university, college or school you will be deemed as a closed club. Therefore, you will pay the same fees as a closed club depending on the number of declared members taking part in triathlon. In most case this will be the lowest level.

This is limited to 3 sessions and must be adhered to otherwise the club will find it is not insured to run the sessions.

Once a club has completed the online affiliation application form, been approved and made payment a club is then able to access the club management area of the British Triathlon website.

To do this you will need to:

1. Login here 
2. Your username is your club affiliation number which can be found on your payment confirmation
3. You will have created your password within your initial club affiliation form
4. You can request a password reset on the login page, this will be sent to the club's primary contact
