Can I compete in more than one qualification race?
You can enter and compete in more than one qualification race per championship event but you only need to register once for that championships.
You can qualify for multiple Championships, although current ITU rules do not allow an athlete to take part in two events within a 24 hour period at the same Championships so if you are successful in qualifying for two Championships that will be held within 24 hours of each other you will be asked to withdraw from one. Sprint and Standard are classed as separate Championships.
If a qualification race acts as a qualifier for more than one Championship you must register your intent for both Championships if you intend to qualify for both. You will only be considered for selection in the Championships you have registered your intent for.
When can I find out if I have qualified?
We endeavour to allocate the qualification places within two weeks of the qualification race or the submission deadline outlined on the championship registration pages.
What if all the qualification places are not filled?
An athlete who finishes outside of the outlined qualification criteria will not be eligible for qualification regardless of spaces available.
How many qualification places are there?
National Federations can enter a maximum of 20 athletes per age-group into an international Championship.
How do I find the ITU and ETU websites?
Where can I find the competition rules for Age-Group Championships?
I think my bike/equipment/uniform might be illegal, where can I find out more?
Age-Group Championships follow the ITU Competition rules which can be found here.
I cannot race after all, do I have to notify anybody to withdraw?
Yes. Please notify your team manager and the age-group team as soon as possible. Your team manager’s email address can be found within the championship registration page for your event and/or within your team information emails. It is important that you notify as soon as possible – in many cases your place can then be offered to another athlete.
What are the costs?
You will need to pay a registration fee to register your intent to qualify which will enable you to be considered for the Great Britain Age-Group Team. The registration fee is currently £10.
For events where British Triathlon are sending a Team Manager and/or Support Team you will also be required to pay £20 international race fee. The International race fee is in place to cover the costs incurred for the Age-Group Team Support Team. This includes those who travel to the events. The Team Managers and support staff are volunteers who strive to support you.
You will need to pay the race entry fee as set out on the team information emails. It is also mandatory to obtain a trisuit that complies with the Age-Group Team Kit requirements.
You will need to book your flights and accommodation. You can book your flights independently or via British Triathlon’s Official Travel and Accommodation Supplier Nirvana.
In addition to your Home Nation member’s insurance we also recommend you to consider additional insurance for travelling and racing abroad.
