Steve came to triathlon from a running background and as well as competing soon got into coaching in the early 90s.
He was one of the first Level 3 coaches and in fact developed some of the early British Triathlon Association Coach Education courses.
Steve has coached athletes to European and World Championship success and he attended the Olympic Games in Sydney as a coach and Team Manager.
Having cut his teeth at Windsor and other major domestic events Steve has become best known as a commentator not least for the BBC covering the ITU World Triathlon Series.
At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Steve was commentator and broadcaster for the sports of triathlon, marathon swimming and race walking. At the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Steve was stadium announcer and commentator for track and field athletics. He also provided commentary for visually impaired spectators via the radio ‘in ear’ facility.
Steve is one of the best-known names in triathlon globally as a coach, race commentator and journalist. He is a true ambassador for the sport of triathlon and has played a key role in raising the profile of our sport.
