Richard joined the Board of British Triathlon having had a long career in finance with a number of large companies, and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the NEC Group.  

He trained and qualified as a Chartered Account with Pricewaterhousecoopers and spent several years with them post-qualification. Following this he joined GE where he held several roles with them, including assistant to the Chief Financial Officer of GE Capital, based in New York, and Chief Financial Officer of their European Equipment Financing division. After 15 years as Group Finance Director of Home Retail Group PLC, owners of retail brands such as Argos and Habitat, Richard took a career break to pursue his passion for triathlon before joining NEC Group.

Richard has always been keen sportsman and attended Loughborough University where he competed regularly for the University's Athletics First Team. He has now been competing in both triathlons and duathlons for over 10 years and represented the GB age-group teams at both European and World Championships. His triathlon highlights are winning his age group at IRONMAN Austria and going on to finish 9th in his age group at the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona.
