In England, government instruction allows you to exercise freely outdoors. This means that you can take whatever exercise you need to, so long as you maintain social distancing whilst doing it. From 1 June, groups of up to six people from different households may now meet outside, so long as you all remain at least 2m apart. We are waiting for further guidance on exercising and coaching in groups and until we are able to publish this, we recommend that you continue to only exercise with or only coach one person from another household.  This must still be done whilst maintaining social distancing of at least 2m at all times and you should also consider the impact of the aerosol effect whilst exercising. This is the increase in spray and the potential increased trajectory of up to 20m.

If you are coaching a person from another household, strong hygiene precautions must be in place at all times.

You can now travel to exercise and there is no limit on the distance that you may travel. You must however, only travel in a car with members of your immediate household, even if you are meeting another person to exercise with.

Open water swimming in England is now permitted, but you should take care and consider if this is appropriate. More information on this can be found here.

In Scotland, you may exercise freely outdoors. This means that you can take whatever exercise you need to, so long as you maintain social distancing whilst doing it.  It is now permissible for two households of up to eight people to meet together outside, so long as you all remain at least 2m apart.

It is now possible to coach members of another household on a 1-2-1 basis in Scotland so long as you are outside and remain at least 2m apart at all times. You should also consider the impact of the aerosol effect whilst exercising, which can increase the possible trajectory of spray up to 20m.

If you are coaching a person from another household, strong hygiene precautions must be in place at all times.

Unnecessary travel should be avoided, therefore you should only exercise in your local area. The advice is that you should remain within five miles of your home.

Open water swimming in Scotland is now permitted, but you should take care and consider if this is appropriate. More information on this can be found here.

In Wales, you may exercise freely outdoors. This means that you can take whatever exercise you need to, so long as you maintain social distancing whilst doing it.  It is now permissible for two households to meet together outside, so long as you all remain at least 2m apart. It is now possible to coach members of another household on a 1-2-1 basis in Wales so long as you are outside and remain at least 2m apart at all times. You should also consider the impact of the aerosol effect whilst exercising, which can increase the possible trajectory of spray up to 20m.

Travel to exercise should be avoided unless there is a valid reason for doing so. The advice is that you should remain within five miles of your home.

Open water swimming in Wales is now permitted, but you should take care and consider if this is appropriate. More information on this can be found here.
