What does Day Membership provide?
Day Membership provides an amount of public liability insurance cover up to £15 million. Public liability insurance is defensive cover that protects you if you cause an accident injuring or damaging someone else or someone else’s property. This only applies if the member is legally responsible for the accident. Compensation is paid from the insurers to the person pursuing the claim with the injury/damage so the you do not have to pay the full amount. You will only pay the excess of £250 if a claim for damage to property is successfully made against you.
What doesn't Day Membership provide?
Day Membership does not include personal accident cover, it also does not provide insurance cover for your equipment and kit.
Who do I need to tell if I have an accident?
If you are unfortunate to be involved in an accident at the permitted event covered by your day membership, you will need to visit the Insurance Centre as soon as practicable to report the accident.
We are only able to provide public liability insurance as part of Day Membership to UK residents. If you live abroad permanently, no public liability will be provided by British Triathlon through either our membership packages or through day membership.
By entering a permitted event taking place in England, Scotland or Wales, you do so confirming that you will have public liability insurance (minimum indemnity of £5million) in place for the duration of the event. Proof of valid public liability insurance may be requested at the event and in the case of any subsequent third party claims made against you.
