News Flash! East Midlands IRC selection application

Published:

We are in the search for 4 males and 4 females from TS2 and TS3 to represent the East Midlands Region at the BTF Grand Final Weekend in Sunderland.

To apply for selection, please submit your 200m swim time and your 1500m run time before 14th June. If you have not been able to secure a 1500m track time this year, then your best junior parkrun time will be accepted.

Although TS2 are doing an aquathlon on Saturday 20th August, both age groups will be competing in a triathlon on Sunday 21st August as part of the mixed relay event. We will chiefly be looking at results from this year, however results fromlast season will provide some background information on the athlete.

There are races coming up that you may be interested in competing in which will provide a good opportunity to demonstrate your racing ability. Staunton Harold on the 12th June has an aquathon which has similar distances to those in the IRC’s. There is also a series of Aquathlons at Spring Lakes starting on the 1st May that you may wish to consider.

All applications need to be in by the 14 th June: Hilary Johnson at hilary.johnson@live.co.uk

The IRCs event follows the same format as in 2021.

Saturday 20th August 2022.

Additional Qualifying Information for the East Midlands Team

To be eligible for selection to the IRC Team, athletes must be members of Triathlon England with East Midlands on their Membership Card and Race Licence.

The 2022 criteria for East Midlands region representation has been designed to ensure that the best athletes can be taken to the Inter-Regional Championships.

The team selected will be notified in writing by the Regional Committee to confirm the full team. Those who qualify will be invited to Pre-IRC Training (provisionally 10th July at Spring Lakes, Long Eaton, Derbyshire)

The starting order of the Athletes at the IRCs will be decided by the IRC managers. The decision will be based predominantly their performance this season, using their swim and run times as a staring point.

There will be no right of appeal against IRC selection decisions made by the East Midlands Committee under this policy. The provisions of the BTF Selection and Nomination Appeals Procedure do not apply in this case.
