Returning to play with Leicester Triathlon Club

As with most clubs, Leicester Tri Club focussed on virtual content and opportunities throughout lockdown in 2020 and 2021 and are making their way back to in-person activity now restrictions are easing.

With quizzes and virtual challenges on offer, the club supported existing and prospective members to get involved in social and physical activities, including a virtual relay with a local running club, through their Facebook group [].

As the club returns to in-person activity, they’ve got their Covid Officer in place, have started weekly runs in Bradgate Park and are creating small taskforce groups to look after and deliver different activities that the club runs.

They’re also hoping to start their open water swimming sessions in Watermead Park earlier than usual having found pool time hard to come by in local facilities.

Pre-Covid, the club was creating its development plan and is using the restart as an opportunity to restart the process.

At the heart of this will be surveying the club’s members to find out what they think currently works well and what they think could be improved and using this feedback to allow the members to help shape the club’s future.

They’re also looking at using Club Matters to access workshops as a way of gaining insight and methods of practice as they develop their plans and upskill themselves to help the club move forward.

The club are also looking at growth as part of their return to play, with a programme of GO TRI activities being planned to help potential new members experience and develop their confidence in swim, bike, run.

Working alongside the club is Sarah Williams, Triathlon England Regional Manager for the East Midlands, helping them plan for the GO TRI sessions as they look to deliver them for their local community.

With 2021 now up and running and the club hoping to reshape the way they operate, comradery and the people that make up the club will be firmly at the heart of all they do.

Clubs are a great way to enjoy swim, bike, run with likeminded people. With access to training and advice, coaching and social activities, find your local club on the club search below.
