For this months Focus On we here from one of our newer community clubs AM activ.
AM activ race team was formed less than two years ago as a multi-sport community team for runners, cyclists, duathletes & triathletes based in Huntingdon and Cambridgshire.
AM activ encourages people who are new to multi-sport by offering them structured training that is appropriate to their abilities together with advice and tips to keep them motivated and progessing.
Some of the more progressive members have had successes during 2018 at GB age-group championships, under 20s national sprint champion and ETU aquabike championships. The teams journey continues into 2019 with a number of its members qualifying to race for GB at the ITU aquabike & sprint duathlon championships and the ETU sprint duathlon championships.
The team are growing in numbers and with that are growing into a community club to help more people in their triathlon journey.
AM activ was founded by Andy Matson who runs his own coaching and fitness Consultancy Company. Andy started his coaching journey as a young track and field coach in his teens and then went on over a period of 30 years to gain qualifications in Teacher of Fitness & Personal Training, Triathlon coach level 1 and 2, BSc Hons degree in Sports Science, degree in Health and Social care and a post graduate qualification in Clinical Exercise Physiology. Andy has also coached other sports such as rugby and martial arts and has worked alongside other coaches from many other sports such as in the field of boxing and tennis offering strength training support.
The philosophy of the race team emulates the philosophy of Andy’s health and fitness coaching business. Together this partnership has created an environment that inspires and encourages athletes of all abilities to learn and develop at all times. The partnership also offers unique opportunities to young aspiring triathletes with its very own sponsorship scheme.
