League and Championship Update

Published:

The first eight of the twelve Eastern Region League events for 2015 have now taken place which have included two of the three Eastern Region Championships.

The Eastern Region is one of the few regions to operate a regional triathlon league to provide Triathlon England (TE) members and clubs associated with the region an additional level of competition throughout the season.

In the Club League a club's three best placed TE men and two best placed TE women at a league event earn the club points.  The Club's best two Sprint distance event scores, their two best Endurance event scores (stand and middle) and then the better of their third best Endurance or Sprint scores count towards their seasons score.

Currently the top four clubs are as follows and the full table can be found here:

Place Club Best Spr 2nd Spr Best End 2nd End 3rd End / 3rd Spr Points
1 Tri-Anglia 17,040 16,336 54,166 45,326 38,162 171,030
2 East Essex Tri Club 45,175 44,155 33,609 18,868 26,240 168,047
3 Born2Tri 22,678 19,294 8,284 8,276 8,115 66,647
4 Cambridge Tri Club 17,395 0 18,705 16,648 10,000 62,748

The points each individual earns at a league event counts towards their own standings within the appropriate individual league.  For 2015 we have the following Individual Leagues:

  • Senior Women being led by Dawn Collyer of Tri-Anglia.
  • Veteran Women being led by Sonia Davis of VCARS RG Active Race Team.
  • Senior Men being led by John Beardsworth unattached.
  • Veteran Men being led by Keith Muggleton of East Essex Tri Club.

The points scored at each event is out of 10,000 based upon the individuals time compared to their gender winners time.  Though for the Championship races the scoring is out of 12,000.

The first Eastern Region Championship race was the Standard Distance Championship which was hosted at the Norwich Triathlon.  Tri-Anglia's Iain Robertson who races for Torq took the overall race with and the Eastern Region Veteran Male Standard Distance Champion title.  Sam Proctor of Tri Harder who was second overal took the Eastern Region Senior Male Standard Distance Champion title.  Kimberley Morrison, also of Tri-Anglia, took the overall win and the Eastern Region Senior Female Standard Distance Champion title.  Taking the 2015 Eastern Region Veteran Female Standard Distance Champion title was Nicky Roger of King's Lynn Tri Club.

The second Eastern Region Championship race was the Sprint Distance Championships which was hosted by Dengie Events at the Maldon Sprint Triathlon. The title winners there were:
