AGM | AWARDS | WORKSHOPS
The Triathlon England Conference returns for 2020 on Saturday 14 November and will delivered virtually, with no cost to attend.
Although different to other years, the 2020 conference will provide volunteers, clubs, officials, coaches, athletes and event organisers with the appropriate tools and development opportunity to play a key role in increasing the number of people participating in triathlon.
The conference will include workshops, the Youth Forum's ‘Year in Review’ and AGM, as well as keynote speeches from Ben Bright (British Triathlon Olympic Coach) and Mike Cavendish (British Triathlon Performance Director).
The day will culminate in the Triathlon England Awards which will recognise the many volunteers, coaches and events that make our sport great. The awards will also include a Q&A with Sophie Coldwell.
The day provides an opportunity to speak to and ask questions of Triathlon England and British Triathlon staff and Board members.

Delivering a great GO TRI experience in the current climate
The GO TRI Team are welcoming current and aspiring GO TRI Event Organisers to an interactive workshop. They will update you on the latest developments, share best practice in terms of delivering a great GO TRI experience, as well as touch on learnings from delivering great experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic and discuss virtual offers.
You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, whilst also having the chance to network with other event organisers and meet the faces behind GO TRI.
Technical Official Social
Join Duncan Hough for an hour to discuss all things officiating. Topics will include:
- e-bikes and how to spot them
- Looking back at 2020 and forwards to 2021
- Technical Official Question Time

England Pathway Q&A - for youth and junior athletes
Matt Divall is the England Pathway Manager and responsible for the management of the first selective environments in the pathway - the English Regional Academies and England Next Generation programmes.
During the pandemic, both programmes have supported athletes and parents virtually, checking in on their mental and physical wellbeing, creating group sessions and challenges. Recently, Regional Academies have gradually introduced a return to activity in accordance with national guidance.

Clean Sport Workshop
This interactive workshop will provide advice and guidance to help you make the right decisions when it comes to training and competing in triathlon. For coaches and athletes, it will give you an introduction to clean sport and antidoping, and help athletes and their supporters to be clean and stay clean. It will also provide you with an overview of the testing procedure, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions of one of British Triathlon’s UKAD Anti Doping Advisors and UKAD National Trainer, Scott Murray.
Safeguarding - grooming and positions of trust in sport
- To improve your understanding of grooming and what it might look like in sport environment
- To help you increase protective factors and create resilience in your setting
Club Workshop – club development, club affiliation and benefits
Topics covered will include:
- An update on club affiliation for 2021
- Club affiliation benefits
- Club development including toolkits, club accreditation, coaching and more

Location and Cost
With the current Covid-19 situation the Conference will be delivered virtually. With this in mind it will be free of charge to all attendees to ensure as many people as possible can access a celebration of our sport.
