Safeguarding - Club Update

Published:

Keeping young people safe is of primary importance to British Triathlon.

We want to ensure that they are protected during training and competition, whilst also encouraging them to have fun in a friendly and supportive environment.

Young Persons guide
British Triathlon have produced a young persons guide to staying safe while training and competing in triathlon and who they can talk when they're worried. This guide is available for each of your junior members, you can download it here - we hope that you will share it with them and their parents.

If you have young people within your club you should have received copies of the young persons guide to hand out. If you need more guides, please let us know and we will post them out to you.

DBS
British Triathlon has updated its DBS service for clubs and associated organisations. Moving forward clubs will receive an email notifying them when associated coaches and club officers existing DBS status are about to expire, has expired or is restricted due to the individual not providing a copy of the certificate for British Triathlon to validate.

Clubs will still be responsible for ensuring everyone in regulated activity or direct contact with children under 18 or “adults at risk” has a British Triathlon validated DBS certificate as part of their risk assessment.

We hope this service will help clubs maintain their records and ensure you have the appropriate cover to meet your TriMark standard accreditation.
