Beccles Triathlon is a sprint triathlon, based at the Beccles Lido - home of Beccles Triathlon Club. The event raises funds for the Lido charity. The Lido is a 7 lane, 30m open air pool which is popular with locals and holidaymakers alike.
The swim snakes across the pool totalling 420m, before competitors cycle in a long loop to nearby Bungay and back - some 12 miles over flat terrain on the way out and rolling hills on the way back. The new run course takes in the north side of Beccles before passing Beccles Quay - gateway to the Norfolk Broads. The route joins the banks of the River Waveney, passing the local sailing club before heading through the Suffolk countryside to the turnaround point on the "out and back" course.
2023 saw our first visually impaired competitor taking part - verdict "I loved it!"
We are regularly over subscribed, but unable to fit any more bikes in transition, so for 2024 we have added an aquathlon option - utilising the same swim and run options.
