Event Organiser Roadshows

Booking closes on Wednesday 13 November for the 2019 Event Organiser Roadshows

British Triathlon are organising five exclusive roadshows to connect with and support the triathlon event organiser community. Delivered by experts from across the events and triathlon industry, these roadshows will cover a variety of topics including 'Working with Local Press', 'Engaging Stakeholders' and 'Sustainable Events' to help event organisers in developing themselves and their events.

Permitting Event Organisers are invited to join the Event Engagement Team for FREE during November at these insightful and interesting roadshows for the opportunity to network, hear from industry experts, ask questions and meet a number of the British Triathlon team. Please note there will be a charge for non-permitting event organisers.

Roadshow Dates

Each roadshow will run from 11am until 4pm with lunch provided:

18 November - Engaging Stakeholders: Wayne Coyle, Event Director, AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds


Wayne has a wealth of experience having worked in senior management across the sports industry over a 30 year period. Working alongside private and public sector organisations, National Governing Bodies and event contractors, he has been part of the delivery of major sporting events, sports participation and development, and performance sport. Events that he has delivered include World Triathlon Series Leeds 2017-2020, Tour de France Grand Depart 2014, European Swimming Championships and London 2012 Test Events. 

19 November - Sustainable Events: Dr Russell Seymour, CEO, British Association for Sustainable Sport


Working as Sustainability Manager at the Marylebone Cricket Club (Lord’s Cricket Ground) and Founder and Chief Executive of BASIS (the British Association for Sustainable Sport), Russell is passionate about the welfare of this planet and the preservation of its ecosystems for future generations. Working at Lord’s as the first Sustainability Manager at a major UK sports venue, Russell has had the opportunity to see the powerful influence of sport on participants and fans and the impact that the environment has on sport, and sport on the environment. With this in mind, he set up BASIS in 2010, with the intention of bringing together like-minded individuals at all levels of sport, to share ideas, experiences and strategies around sustainability and sport. 

21 November - Working with Local Press: James Toney, Managing Editor, BEAT Media Group


James started his career in national newspapers as a news reporter and will be covering his 12th Olympic Games in Tokyo. He currently sits on the British Olympic Association's Media Accreditation Advisory Committee and Sports Journalists' Association General Committee. A regular contributor on radio and TV, his book 'Inside Track' ws published by Bloomsbury in 2013.

25 November - Event Organisation and Delivery, Greg Warnecke, ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019


Greg joins us off the back of overseeing the operational delivery of the 2019 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. He also holds experience from major events such as multiple Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Paralympic Youth Games. As Head of Sport for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Greg played an integral role in the inclusion, planning and delivery of the inaugural Mixed Relay. Greg also currently sits on the British Triathlon Board as Independent Non-Executive Director for Major and National Events.

29 November - Route Planning: Jim Bellinger, Zing Event Management


Jim will be sharing his knowledge and what he's learned having covered some of the largest events in the world including: 2017-2020 World Triathlon Series Leeds; London 2012 Triathlon; 2019 Para-Cycling International, Yorkshire 2019;  2014 Tour de France Grand Depart.
