The Frosty is a series of two Aquathlons, the first one off is The Frosty, an 800m swim followed by a 10k run. Then The Frostbite a 400m swim and a 5k run. Both swims are in an indoor 25m pool with transition inside (as the event is always on the first Sunday in March). The run is around the local boating lake and along the seafront promenade, and provided the weather is kind, fast times can be achieved.

Many regulars use the event as a curtain raiser for their 2020 season and the event will be celebrating its 25th anniversary, a memento is given to all finishers. In the longer Frosty, whilst competitors race individually there is also a team prize. A team must have at least one male or female and be a total of four per team to count.
