Intention to Qualify

Please note, to register for this event you will need your performance details on hand to complete your submission.
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email and will be added to the registration list below.
Please ensure that your registration has been successful by checking the athlete registration list below. Please check this before the relevant registration deadline as we are not able to make changes after each registration deadline has closed. No late registrations including amendments will be accepted after the final registration date has passed.
In order to be eligible to qualify and compete in this event you must be 18 on the 31st December 2020. Please do not register your interest if you will not meet this age limit, as you will be unable to qualify and compete in the championship.
5pm Friday 8th November 2019 as many of the 20 places per age group will be issued is the first registration cut off date. After this date all 20 places per age group may be issued. The other two cut off dates are to allocate the remainng slots per age group.
There are no specific qualifying races for the ETU Middle Distance Duathlon European Championships.
Applicants should supply evidence of their best Middle Distance Duathlon performance at an event achieved between October 2018 and the final registration deadline of 5pm Friday 16th March 2020. Please note if an Age-Group becomes oversubscribed with eligible athletes then results achieved in the previous 12 months will supersede older results. To be eligible for a qualifying place all athletes will be required to have completed their nominated race within 120% of the winner of their age group.
Results from the following races will be considered; middle distance (70.3) triathlon and duathlon, standard distance triathlon and duathlon can be used to support. Combined single discipline performances E.g. half marathon performance + bike time trial performance etc. A middle distance duathlon performance will always be given priority. Qualification evidence should include all of the below:
- Race name
- Race date
- Finish time and position
- Winner of Age-Groups time
- Link to the online results
The registration deadlines are as follows:
- 5pm Friday 8th November 2019 - as many of the 20 places per age group will be issued
- 5pm Friday 10th January 2020 - remaining places issued per age group
- 5pm Monday 17th February 2020- remaining places issued per age group
Events used as race evidence must have chip timing and produce results into age group bands.
If you improve your best performance before the final registration deadline and would like to update the result, you will need to get in contact with the Age-Group team: email@example.com. Updating your result is free of charge.
Any athlete inside 120% of the winner of their age-group that has not qualified due to limited spaces may still be able to qualify with a rolldown place. Details of rolldown places can be found here.
If you are moving up an age group in 2020, your qualification will be based on where your finishing time would have placed you in the age-group category you will be racing for in 2020. Please consider this when you complete your application. Please see point 8.3 in the Terms and Conditions.
To Pre-Qualify for the 2020 ETU European Championship race, athletes must finish in the top 10 places in their age group and be one of the first three British athletes to finish in the 2019 ETU European Championship race.
Athletes must also confirm their intent to take up their Pre-Qualified place in writing by the final dedline date.

Allocation of Places
There are 20 places available in each age group.
All 20 places could be awarded during the first selection phase if enough athletes apply and meet the qualification criteria. The remaining selection phases will allocate any remaining places.
If more than 20 athletes qualify in an age-group then after places are allocated as per results from within 12 months the remaining athletes will be given a rolldown percentage, where relevant, based on the performance result they submitted at the time of registration and may be eligible for a rolldown place.
Allocation of places will be awarded following the 3 registration deadlines outlined in the section above. This may take up to two weeks afetr the deadline. Qualified athletes will be notified by e-mail and will also be marked with a 'Q' next to their name in the registered athletes list below.
British Triathlon do not process the entry to this event. Athletes are required to enter the event directly and we will confirm the championship team with the event organiser closer to the event. At this point athletes will be transferred to the championship start list.

Athletes are welcome to enter the Open Wave at any point, if you then qualify for the GB Age Group Team we will swap you entry to the CHampionship wave. If you do not qualify you can then still enter the Open event.
