Qualification

Athletes who were in the 2021 team at the time the team was withdrawn from the Championships were able to register to take up their 2022 PQ place in the team by 5pm Friday the 27th August 2021.

Any athletes who had a PQ from the 2021 team but did not register by the date above have relinquished their PQ and need to register with a race result to be considered for the team.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Because the 2021 Championships were cancelled there will be less then 20 places in each age group available. Please keep this in mind when you register for the 2022 Championships.

To check this, scroll the page down and check the number of people in your age group. Age groups are limited to 20. There can be more than 20 people who register per age group but only 20 can be allocated a Q to qualify for the team. If there are more than 20 people with a Q in your age group, please consider that your chance of qualifying for the 2022 team may be reduced although when someone withdraws we will roll down their place to the athletes with the next fastest time.

To qualify for the event athletes need to register with a race result which meest the criteria outlined below. We recomend reading all of this webpage before registering.

Registration cut off dates:

Q1-5pm Friday 19th November 2021

Q2-TBC 2022

Q3-TBC 2022

  • Events need to have the minimum distances of a 400, 750m or 1km pool or open water swim and a 5km run. Results from longer distances can be considered but you must meet the guideline times in the table below.
  • Results also need have have a finishing time which is within 120% of the winner of your age group. If you are moving up an age group in 2022, use the time from the winner of the age group you are moving into.

  • Athletes may submit a split swim and run time from separate events but these results will only be considered after the third round of qualification if there are places remaining in each age group. The times for the separate results will be amalgamated to produce a new average % result, the required 120% must still be met with the combined results.
  • Race results must be from when events are deemed competitive after lockdowns ended. For further information please see below.
