In 2024 Age Group athletes have the opportunity to again compete in the 2024 British Triathlon Super Series events.
The Performance Assessment Weekend takes place as the first event of the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series, but additionally serves as an opportunity for Senior athletes to enter the Super Series.
Athletes will complete a swim time-trial in the pool, on Saturday, followed by a bike-run race on Sunday. Athletes start the bike-run in pursuit format behind the fastest swimmer. Subsequent athletes will follow according to swim time behind the leader.
All athletes with aspirations to race in the British Youth and Junior Super Series are required to attend the PA’s, with the results from the weekend setting the order of entry for the initial races. Senior athletes will also be able compete at the Assessments to qualify for the Senior Super Series, although this may not be required if they already meet the selection criteria in the 2024 Super Series Senior Selection Policy.
Youth & Junior athletes (born in or between 2005 and 2009) who have not competed at the Performance Assessments before and are not a member of a Regional Academy will need to attend an Academy-led bike session within their region to test their bike skills ahead of the Performance Assessments.
Youth & Junior athletes who need to attend a bike session can contact their relevant English Regional Academy Lead here. Athletes based in Scotland please contact [email protected], and in Wales, Welsh Academy Lead, [email protected]. Please note, attendance at a cycling training session with the relevant Regional Academy may also be required for some senior athletes prior to the PA’s. Information about which senior athletes will need to attend the PA’s and cycling training sessions is available in the Senior Super Series Selection Policy and Senior Super Series Explained document.
CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) screening will not be taking place again at this years event. It will be present at the 2025 Performance Assessments. You can find out more about CRY screening here.
