Kate is a multiple international and European medal winner at junior, U23 and senior level, including becoming World U23 Champion in 2022 and finishing second to race winner and World Champion Beth Potter at the 2023 World Triathlon Championship Finals Pontevedra.
The silver medal in Pontevedra was one of a series of strong results for Kate in 2023, including fifth at World Triathlon Championship Series(WTCS) Yokohama which was her best WTCS result until Pontevedra. She also finished seventh at the Paris Test Event individual race before securing silver as part of the Great Britain team in the mixed relay alongside Alex Yee, Beth Potter and Barclay Izzard.
Originating from Gateshead, Kate completed her A-Levels in 2017 at Royal Grammar School Newcastle and took up a place at Leeds University in 2018 to study psychology.
Kate recorded her first major win in 2014 at the Penza U23 Youth and European Championships Women Relay. From there she won the British Triathlon Female Elite Junior Triathlete of the Year in 2015 and has built on her junior performances since then.
Her success continued into 2016, beginning with a 2nd place finish at the Quarteira Junior European Cup and rounding off the year with a silver medal at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Cozumel Mixed U23-Junior Relay.
Kate won the ETU European junior title in June 2017 and then went on to win silver at the world championships in Rotterdam in September. In her final year as a junior, she won world bronze in 2018 on the Gold Coast.
Major Results
One of Kate’s standout results came in 2019 where she featured in the Mixed U23-Junior Relay team that crossed the line in second place at Lausanne, as well as celebrating individual silver and bronze medals at the Malmö ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup and the Nur-Sultan ITU Triathlon World Cup respectively.
2021 saw Kate win her first World Triathlon Cup medals courtesy of back-to-back second-place finishes in South Korea to end the year. It was a year that also saw Kate make her World Triathlon Championship Series debut in Hamburg, recording a ninth-place finish.
It was one of six top-10 finishes in 2021 for Kate including fifth at the European Triathlon Championships and 10th in the U23 race at the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Edmonton, along with her season-ending medal successes in South Korea.
In 2022, Kate brought the gold medal winning Great Britain mixed relay team across the line as they secured mixed relay victory at World Triathlon Championship Series Hamburg, where she finished 12th the day before in the women's race. Top-five World Triathlon Cup finishes followed in Pontevedra and Bergen including bronze in the event in Norway.
Kate ended the year by being crowned the U23 World Champion at the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Abu Dhabi.
Alongside her strong results in WTCS races which saw her finish sixth in the overall series, 2023 saw Kate claim series victory at Super League Triathlon having taken top step of the podium in Toulouse and second place in Neom.
