Megan Richter heads to Paris for what will be her Paralympic Games debut. Despite missing the 2023 season she returned to the sport with five podiums to secure her place on the Women’s PTS4 start line.
The start of 2024 saw Richter wear the GB trisuit for the first time since November 2022 and she marked her return with a silver medal at World Triathlon Para Series Devonport. She would race a further four times in preparation for Paris and was on the podium on every occasion. She followed up her Devonport performance by going one better and winning World Triathlon Para Cup Yenisehir. Three consecutive silver medals in Besancon, Swansea and Montreal followed as she rounded off her preparations for the Games.
Megan represented Great Britain in para-swimming from as young as 13 when she made her international debut at the European Junior Swimming Championships in 2014.
Since then, Megan has gone onto achieve international success at senior level, including podium finishes at World and European Championships.
Megan returned from the 2019 European Para-Swimming Championships with three medals, claiming silvers in both the 100m backstroke S8 and 200m individual medley SM8, and 100m breaststroke SB7 bronze in Dublin at the age of 17.
A year later and it was a World Championships to remember for Megan, not only because of the home crowd inside the London Aquatics Centre, but it was a medal-winning meet for the Birmingham-based athlete.
Megan followed-up her European medal successes with World bronze in the women’s 100m backstroke S8.
