All coaches, leaders and activators must prioritise certain fundamental elements, starting with a specific focus on safeguarding, ensuring they have appropriate membership insurance cover to protect themselves.
Each course will have a set of entry requirements, that will determine eligibility of entry. The following are general requirements to all courses. If you are unsure if you meet any of these areas, please contact the coaching team to discuss.
Membership
You must hold a valid Core or Ultimate Home Nation membership to access courses and maintain membership for the entire course. This additionally provides insurance cover during your training, and once you are qualified. Find out more about membership here.
Safeguarding Requirements
At British Triathlon, we place the utmost importance on the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in our sport. In line with this commitment, it is mandatory for all coaches, activators, and leaders to obtain and maintain a UK Coaching safeguarding qualification suitable for the specific environment in which they facilitate, lead, or coach.
We firmly believe that safeguarding is a fundamental aspect of our values, and we strive to create an environment where the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk is protected. We recognise that every person engaged in triathlon has a collective responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. By adhering to these safeguarding practices, we aim to provide an enjoyable and secure environment where everyone can fully engage and thrive in the sport of triathlon.
Participating in the UK Coaching safeguarding workshop will greatly enhance your awareness of the tell-tale signs of abuse and equip you with the necessary tools and confidence to address any potential issues sensitively, appropriately, and effectively throughout your coaching or volunteering career. This workshop is designed to empower you with a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding principles, enabling you to identify signs of abuse and take swift action when required. By completing this workshop, you will gain valuable knowledge and practical skills to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals under your care. Rest assured that with this training, you will be well-prepared to handle safeguarding situations, should they ever arise, and make a positive impact in creating a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Access to a computer
Our online workshops are thoughtfully designed to be accessible and engaging, delivered through the popular video conferencing platform, Zoom. Whether you prefer to join from your computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can easily participate in the workshops from the comfort of your own space. However, it's important to consider your environment to ensure you get the most out of the sessions. We recommend finding a quiet and distraction-free location, such as your home or a peaceful workspace, where you can fully concentrate and actively engage in the workshop. By selecting an optimal setting, you'll create an atmosphere conducive to learning, enabling you to fully immerse yourself in the workshop content and make the most of the interactive sessions.
We are committed to providing our learners with a seamless and engaging learning experience. To facilitate this, we utilise an online Moodle platform called Learning Hub. The Learning Hub serves as a comprehensive virtual learning environment, hosting a wide range of self-led online learning modules, resources, and additional reading materials. Learners enrolled in our courses have convenient access to this platform, allowing them to supplement their learning journey and dive deeper into the course content at their own pace. The Learning Hub offers a user-friendly interface, empowering learners to navigate through the various modules, track their progress, and engage with interactive materials. We believe that the integration of this innovative platform enhances the overall learning experience, providing learners with valuable resources and tools to support their growth and success throughout their course. More details about Learning Hub can be found here.
Please note that all learners must have access to a suitable internet-connected device throughout the duration of the learning program. The Learning Hub, which is accessible via tablets, Mac, PC, and smartphones, provides a flexible learning experience tailored to your preferred device, allowing you to engage with the course materials seamlessly.
