Training Information

The Club Welfare Officer Time to Listen Safeguarding training is mandatory for all Club Welfare Officers of within Junior Triathlon Clubs and is free to all Club Welfare Officers of affiliated British Triathlon / Triathlon England Junior Clubs.

This course will support you in your role as a Club Welfare Officer and help to further develop your understanding of safeguarding within a triathlon environment.

Time to Listen (TTL) is a three hour interactive virtual workshop, developed by the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and is the most appropriate and relevant training for Club Welfare Officers. This workshop builds on basic safeguarding awareness and focuses on implementation in the club environment. It also gives individuals an opportunity to discuss specific issues, challenges and good practice in a friendly environment. As a pre-requisite for the course, attendees need to have completed the UK Coaching Safeguarding and Protecting Children training course previously. If you haven’t yet completed this training you can book your place with a British Triathlon here. If you have taken alternative Safeguarding Training previously (within the past 3 years) and would like to know if this training can be accepted as a pre-requisite please contact concern@britishtriahtlon.org

The training will be delivered via Zoom. You will be sent a Zoom link via email prior to the training starting.  Please ensure the email address on your booking form is correct and up to date and that you check your spam inbox to ensure you receive the joining instructions. You do not need to print off anything before the course but may need to write notes as you go along. A handout will be provided after the training.

The learning outcomes of the training are.

  1. identify what a club welfare officer (CWO) does
  2. describe how a club welfare officer works with others to create a child-centred environment
  3. explain how the club welfare officer role fits into the wider safeguarding environment
  4. explain how safeguarding fits into the wider culture of the organisation
