Skills School is a British Triathlon initiative based around athletes exploring through play and developing their skills through creative and innovative sessions. The athletes will be encouraged to develop their technical, tactical and mental skills during the sessions.
Who can attend?
Skills School is for triathletes aged between 8 and 16. As long as the young athlete is able to swim, bike and run for 5 minutes, they are eligible for Skills School.
What sessions are we focusing on?
The afternoon seesions will consist of running and cycling sessions focusing on a number of skills and tactics specific to triathlon, including mount/dismount skills, duathlon challenges, and open water skills session in the lake using the elite pontoon start (athletes should be able to swim 400m in the pool). All contained within our dedicated Skills School area within the Event Village, we have access to a large grass area of Roundhay Park, suitable for off-road cycling and running. Athletes will need to have access to their own bikes, helmet and wetsuit on the day.
There will be changing facilities at the Roundhay Mansion House.
