Regional Triathlon Training Camp – February 2017

There will be a regional training camp for young triathletes at The new venue of The Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, Suffolk.  Following on from our last 2 very successful camps I decided to look at a new venue to potentially open up some more training opportunities for the young athletes.

Options:

  1.  A Three Day Residential Camp will be Skills School based and will start Sunday 8th April and run until  Wednesday afternoon (11th) .  This camp is open to Youths and Tristars 1,2 & 3.  Cost £225

Objective:

The objective of the camp is to learn about training for triathlon so will include several training sessions each day. The Royal Hospital School as amazing facilities and is set in approx. 200 acres.  The sports facilities are excellent, including a 37m swimming pool, indoor halls, extensive grounds and easy access to a network of quiet roads within the grounds.

The camp is organized by Emma Springham, Skill School Lead East and will be delivered by coaches from clubs across the region.

We are also pleased to announce that the Regional Academy will also be joining us on the camp so there may well be cross training between the groups.

Q&A.

Q. How good at triathlon do I have to be?

A. There is no pre-camp trial or test of ability.  If you’re excited about training and racing triathlon and you’ve been doing it for a year or more you’re good enough.

Q. How much training will I have to do?

A.  We’ll set and adjust the programme according to who comes.  It’ll feel like a challenge and you’ll be tired by the time you go home.  But that’s triathlon isn’t it?

Q.  Do I have to come for the whole camp?

A.  We would rather everyone came to the start and stayed until the end.  The camp is not intended to be a drop-in camp. We are happy to discuss alternatives should you wish.

Q.  Are numbers limited?

A.  At the moment no, though there is a minimum number required to make the camp viable (35), and we cannot cater for an infinitely large number.   If the number who apply is too big for us to run a good camp we will have to limit on a first come first served basis

Q. What sort of bike do I need?

A. Youths and Juniors will require a regular road bike suitable for training on the road in April.  Tristars and the other groups may bring a cyclo-cross style bike suitable for riding off-road.

Q. Do I need a wetsuit?

A. No.  All of the swimming will be in an indoor pool. (But it might be good to practice with it as the pool can be a little chilly)

If you have any other questions please ask.
